The prerequisites for long-term success of osseointegrated dental implants are healthy bone and gingiva.
Since both can atrophy after tooth extraction, pre-prosthetic procedures such as sinus lifts or gingival grafts are sometimes required to recreate ideal bone and gingiva.
Partial dentures replace only a couple of teeth and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting into different positions.
Rebasing requires making a new base, while keeping the existing denture teeth. These changes cause your dentures to loosen, making chewing difficult and irritating your gums.
At a minimum, you should see your dental practitioner annually for a checkup.
Once we got comfortable around each other he didn't tell me anything he just left little clues around. I guess they're just not that far up on my list of "important" things to tell my date...I sleep with my dentures in most of the time and rarely ever think about them unless I'm soaking them or what not. Hope potential dates don't have an issue with dentures, because I'll be in big trouble if they do!!!
It's just not something I think about telling them. Gee, as long as they don't go around without them, now THAT is a turn off, for sure.
After 3 months of marriage, she discovered he wore DENTURES!!!
Apparently hubby placed his dentures under a towel which he carefully placed on the window sill ---until the dog found them and ate them. I dated a guy who wore them, he didn't tell me for the first month we were dating he actually slept with them in for the first few nights I stayed with him. Not telling someone you wear dentures, to me, isn't a big deal. If after getting married, he turned around one day and said "I have 4 children from another marriage"? Or disclosed that he was far far in debt and now it's going to affect you, yup I'd be miffed. That's kinda like not telling someone you dye your hair. I occasionally joke about wearing them myself, but now that I think about it, I can't ever remember announcing to a date that I wear them.
Everyone is so concerned about finding a mate who is truthful, but it is the little things that trip you up.
A friend of mine, after a year courtship, recently married.
A dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.
The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium form an intimate bond to bone.
At least 50% of all denture wearers experience problems with the main concerns involving an improper fit, which can cause denture pain.
