Transgender activist Alexis Arquette passed away from complications related to AIDS, multiple sources, including her former lover, exclusively confirmed to Radar “Alexis was living with AIDS and he had an inoperable tumor and he had developed an infection,” Robert Dupont explained to Radar.“He was working as an artist and living in an Actors Fund home in West Hollywood for people with HIV and AIDS. People kept breaking into his apartment and they did alcohol and drugs. He never did drugs and he didn’t drink,” said Dupont, who is now a Palm Springs-based art dealer.

Later in her career, she made public that she had begun the process leading to sex reassignment surgery.
To this end, Arquette had publicly declared that she considered her gender to be female.
Arquette, who was born Robert, transitioned from male to female 13 years ago.
She has starred in over 50 TV shows and films including Friends, Californication and The Movie Hero.
She underwent gender transitioning in her late thirties, and supported other people making similar transitions.
Arquette was born in Los Angeles, California, the fourth of five children of Brenda Olivia "Mardi" (née Nowak), an actress, poet, theater operator, activist, acting teacher, and therapist, and Lewis Arquette, an actor and director.
Although Leto has not commented on the claims, the 42-year-old, who won an academy award for his portrayal of an HIV positive transgender woman Rayon in , is known for being being somewhat of a ladies' man.
The Hollywood hunk has dated some of the world's most stunning actresses and models.
He previously dated Cameron Diaz from 1999 until 2003 and Scarlett Johansson from 2004 to 2005.
